Promoted Events: Making Development Easier and Better

By: Don Bakke

Promoted events is one of the most powerful tools that developers have for creating efficient and well-managed OpenInsight applications. However, they largely remain undocumented and mysterious to all but the most seasoned programmers. In this presentation SRP will demonstrate:

  • How to create, understand, and manage promoted events
  • How to create a custom event
  • How promoted events can be used to create custom events that launch automatically
  • How to create true MOUSEOVER, MOUSEOFF, and RIGHTCLICK events using the above principles

Ol and new programming techniques, from commuter modules to Windows API functions, will be integrated to help provide developers with ideas on how to creatively and effectively use promoted events. You will wonder how you ever survived without them.

SRP FrameWorks: Sophisticated Infrastructure for Applications

By: Don Bakke

Developing the infrastructure that holds your application together can be a major project all by itself. Should one develop a Multiple Document Interface (MDI) or Single Document Interface? How will graphics and GUI components (e.g. tabs, wizards, toolbars) be used? A failure to make the right decision in the beginning can result in a costly redesign of the system later on. To resolve these issues, SRP developed its FrameWorks application infrastructure. Come and see a pioneer of OpenInight development demonstrate SRP FrameWorks with a real application. We will explain why this tool is ideal for both new development as well as AREV conversion projects. Finally, "how to" questions will be address as well as information on purchasing your own copy of SRP FrameWorks for your own use.
