Here is a summary of syntax rules that you should be aware of when programming your OpenInsight applications in BASIC+.

  • OpenInsight’s Presentation Server requires that Properties and Events be supplied in all capitals (upper case). Properties and Events appear in all capitals in this manual.
  • Names of operators, functions, statements, subroutines, declarations, and parameters, are not case sensitive.
  • When naming functions and subroutines, spaces are not allowed. Use the underscore character ( _ ) to separate individual words in the names of functions and subroutines.
  • Use the * or ! to begin a single line of comments.
  • Use /* */ characters to start and end a block of (single or multi-) line comments.
  • The | character tells the compiler that the following line is an extension of the current line.
