The primary restriction regarding updating a .DBT file is that it cannot be done as part of a runtime application (an OpenInsight application deployed with a runtime engine), because OpenInsight runtime applications have “locked down” databases, and cannot:
Add or remove tables to the database definition;
Modify the database definition in other ways;
Add, remove, or rebuild indexes;
Create or delete tables;
Modify dictionaries.
The runtime license does permit the database of a runtime application to be modified during an upgrade (an upgrade created by an OpenInsight development system). Any of the above items can be performed as part of an application upgrade. |
